The message of The Strength Team inspires students to have a "goal and dream in their heart." The goal and dream is something that a student wants to accomplish when they finish school. The Strength Team ties in the theme of "choices" and how choices impact our ability to reach our goals.
The team uses the feats of strength to open the assembly and to "grab the attention" of the students (Approximately 15 minutes). After that, the team delivers a challenging and motivating message. Through interactive communication, humor, and complete candor, The Strength Team hits on issues for students to consider such as drugs and alcohol, self esteem issues, overcoming difficult times in life, bullying, violence in schools, and the power of words. The assembly is typically 45 minutes long once the students have been seated.
The Strength Team performs assemblies for all age levels (elementary, middle and high school). Using Age appropriate material, The Strength Team tailors the assembly to the needs of your school. The Strength Team "tailor makes" each assembly to address the issues you want addressed.
Elementary Schools
A high-energy, educational, and fun assembly, this program has been hosted by hundreds of elementary schools.
Many have instituted a particular curriculum (i.e. the 6 P's of character, the High-Five Program, etc.) that emphasizes character. The Strength Team can integrate the character program that your school uses into the assembly. After the team leaves, the Strength Team recommends a "feedback" session conducted by teachers after the assembly. Some schools like to write a letter to The Strength Team stating what they learned. For lower elementary students, a talk back session is encouraged.
Middle School
The Strength Team has a high impact on Middle School students as they are transitioning into the High School years. A focus on choosing friends, and peer groups is communicated. Self Esteem issues are addressed by encouraging students not to lower their standards to get someone to like them or fit into a crowd. The team talks about "dream takers" being people who try to get you to comprise so they will let you fit in. Again, relevant topics are used such as the dangers of drugs and alcohol, bullying, choosing the right friends, and working hard in school.
High School
High School students and faculty from all around the nation say that this assembly is crucial for High School Students. While dealing with the subject of "goals and dreams", the Strength Team focuses on the long- term effects of drugs (including steroid use), alcohol, and dropping out of school and un-healthy relationships.
Members of the Strength Team have done assemblies in every State in the USA including some of America's largest and highly respected school systems. From coast to coast, including Seminole County schools of Florida, San Diego California (Santana High School), New York Schools, Montana, Kentucky, Connecticut, the list goes on and on.
The message of The Strength Team emphasizes the importance of education at all age levels. The Team shares the concepts about hard work and diligence in school. The assembly shows the students the positive results that come from that kind of work ethic. The Strength Team also encourages students to never give up, and to finish their education.
Although the Team is a group of world-class athletes, the message is not a sports centered message, but a self-esteem building message that has long lasting impact. Although the team members have great physical strength, none of the members use any form of steroids or strength enhancing drugs to increase their athletic ability. All the members of the team emphasize that there are no short cuts in life, anything that you do comes through hard work and perseverance (success is earned).
